The Small Things

It’s funny how that when you’re taken out of your element, you don’t realize the small things you take for granted. I’ve been doing my thing in the sandbox for almost two months now and here are just a few of the things I miss…

1. Bathing T & I, these two are a riot in the bathtub.
2. Picking up my kids at the end of a duty day. There’s nothing that erases a hard day on the job, like being able to see your kids.
3. Cuddling w/ my husband. I don’t like sleeping alone. Grant it, I have a bunkmate but I’m not about to spoon w/ her. LMFAO.
4. Nature. That’s right, I said I miss nature and I’m talking about all aspects. I’ve been deprived of lush green grass and beautiful green trees. Have I mentioned that I’m about sick of seeing gravel and sand?
5. Not having to walk 4 - 5 blocks and cross two roads just to shower, or use the bathroom.
6. Being able to drive wherever I want to. This taking a bus or walking all over the place, is for the birds.

I’m sure there’s a lot more on my list, but I have to go wake up my bunkmate so we can do the PT thing. I’ve been shedding pounds like mad over here, and I already have to get my husband to send me smaller ABU pants. One of the MSgts I work with said that my pants are so baggy that it looks like I have 2 loads. I don’t like looking like a duffelbag in uniform. It irks the hell out of me.

Anyways, that’s all I have for now. You all enjoy your 3 day weekend. I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I’m alive and well.

xoxo

Sandbox Greetings

Wow, I’ve neglected this blog for almost a full month. I’m so sorry. I just wanted to let everyone know that all is well and I’m finally adjusted to this godforsaken heat. It definitely helps that I working during the nights and that I’m sleeping during the hottest time of day. I finally had my first night off last night and I’ve definitely earned it. I’ll get some pics uploaded sometime this week so you can see what I’m dealing with over here! Everything is white! No color at all! I miss trees and grass. :(

My retraining has been approved and I will be heading out to Goodfellow AFB, TX sometime in April. It kinda sucks that I get home in February and I only get to spend 2 months with the family before I’m headed out the door again. But the bonus I’ll get for reenlisting will definitely be worth it. I’ll graduate from the school in late October. No idea where we’ll be headed to next, but I’m hoping the Air Force keeps us stateside.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging emails. I hear I have quite a few care packages enroute and I’m totally blessed to have such great friends. Thank you all for your continued support of me and my family. Talk to you all soon.

Departure

Well, I started making my journey to the other side of the globe early this morning and so far I’ve already been on 3 planes. I’m currently waiting on the East Coast for my next trip, across the Atlantic Ocean. Since it is a 10 hour flight, it’s not one of my favorites. Who knows how many other countries I’ll stop enroute to the sandbox…but I will post a note on my blog when I finally get to where I’m going.

Mont and the kiddos didn’t take me to the airport, I don’t think I could have held myself together if my family would have been. I kissed each one on their foreheads, as they laid peacefully in their beds, and softly whispered that I loved them and would see them soon. I’m not going to lie and try to seem tough on the outside, I am going to miss my family.

I didn’t get a chance to upload my Guest Design Team projects for Paper Popsicles. Most of my projects are on a flash drive that’s in one of my bags. I’ll post my projects once I’m reunited with it. I do have a couple photos of one project to share with you. This album title page was created with some awesome Dream Street products that Melissa sent me.

Second project I’d like to share with you all is an Artist Trading Card I created using my monthly kit from Eye-Lets Etc.

Thanks so much for looking and thank you everyone for keeping me and my family in your hearts and thoughts. I’ll post again, once I get on the other side of the pond. Much love. Talk to you all soon!
